Why the pedigree is important for you?

Each breed of pedigree pork has a unique size, taste and texture. This is why at Ruth's Little Farm we stock various breeds of pedigree pork for you to try.

Some breeders do cross breeds, as the pigs produced grow faster and often bigger. This does however mean the eating qualities will be entirely altered and the slow grown taste will be lost. This pork is sometimes falsely sold as rare breed pork to increase profitability.

At Ruth's Little farm we can provide a Pedigree Meat Certificate, from the British Pig Association, so that you can be sure that the rare breed pork you buy from us is the real thing.

Our Pedigree Pigs

The pigs at Ruth's Little Farm are all pedigree. This means that both parents of our pigs are pedigree (registered with the British Pig Association which keeps the pedigree/family tree for each pig). We also notify the British Pig Association of the pig's birth and give each pig a unique identification tag, to ensure traceability.

Pedigree Meat Certificates

The British Pig Association supplies pedigree meat certificates for each pedigree pig. Please ask us and we will provide you with a copy of the pedigree meat certificate with your order.
